Microsoft released has finally released Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 in Australia.
Media Center 2005 is designed to become the central media hub in any entertainment system. Windows Media Centre 2005 brings exciting new features to the operating system such as: HDTV Tuner Support, Dual TV tuner support and DVD recording. Windows Media Center 2005 is only available with new PC's and comes with a remote control and an infrared sensor. 
The key feature that Windows XP Professional has that Media Center lacks is support for domain controllers. As such, it is not recommended for workplace environment.
The other feature not available in Australia is the Electronic Programming Guide, a feature that allows you to preset TV programs for recording.
For the best customer experience a high end system is required with at least a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz processor, 1Gb of memory, 128 Mb graphic card and a 120Gb hard drive.
This operating system can also support up to 3 TV Tuner cards, which allow you to watch a TV program and record 2 different programs all at the same time. This is a system that will excite many home users and could even become the way of the future.
